Patterned Bedding: Gingham Quilt and Striped Sheets

Tie dye boho bedroom

Since I moved to LA last November, my house has…well…let's just say the walls have echoed it's been so empty. But in the past few weeks I've decided that enough is enough: it's time to put down roots and start checking off some decorating to-do's. I began with the bedroom since that's where I spend most of my hours. A girl does need her beauty rest, after all!

I'm something of a wuss when it comes to mixing patterns in my wardrobe, but when I spotted this gingham quilt and ticking stripe sheets from the new Threshold collection at Target, I had to give them a whirl. Add in the ombre throw pillows, the oversize check of the chenille toss pillow, and a vintage tie dye throw, and I am seriously living on the edge here, folks.

The key to mixing all these patterns is to keep the tones and textures super soft—which is how you want your bed to feel anyway, right? The shades of grey and white feel right for all seasons but especially nice for the coming spring. I've been tucking into them for reading and watching House of Cards (my latest TV indulgence). Who knew taking a pattern risk could be so rewarding?

P.S. Last week those ombre pillows made an appearance at an outdoor brunch! Images: Thanks to Joanna Hawley of Jojotastic for shooting these photos. Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Target for Style Coalition. I am not an employee of Target. All opinions are my own.

  1. Work well done! I love how you mixed the textures and patterns to create a feminine yet airy bedroom with a vintage twist. Kudos!

  2. I love the shibori wall hanging! We’ve been living in our apartment for almost 2 years and I still don’t feel like it’s finished. It took us about 6 months to get anything on the walls.

  3. So many bedrooms can be over-the-top. This is lovely, Anne. A nice combination of subtle colors and textures. 🙂
