Style Essential: The Cheeky Graphic Tee

Graphic tee style

I do not consider myself a graphic tee kinda gal. Sure I have a few, but they spend more time languishing in my closet than they do adorning my form. As with my anxiety around bright colors, I attribute my hesitation towards this item to my fear of fashion commitment. I look at the words or image on a shirt and ask myself, 'Do I agree strongly enough with this statement to wear it repeatedly?"

But as is also the case with colorful clothing, when I see other women in simple yet clever graphic tees, I'm struck by how darn cute they look. So smart yet devil-may-care, which is secretly the vibe I have always aspired to myself. My trouble is that I worry too hard about the 'smart' part of the equation, thereby canceling out 'devil-may-care' altogether. See? I'm doing it right now!

The solution, obviously, involves less worry and more silly. I mean, that tomato tee doesn't seem ashamed to have a strawberry incorrectly emblazoned across it! And who ever heard of a zebra wearing a striped polo? Or a badger hug around the shoulders? These shirts are meant bring whimsy to a wardrobe, so I need to relinquish my inhibitions and let the good times roll. Which I plan to do as soon as that blogger tee arrives on my front door step. Happy weekend, all!
