Sweater Weather: Cuyana Fall 2013

Sweater weather

Even though I know perfection doesn't technically exist, I've never stopped searching. As a kid I quested relentlessly til I found the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe (it's this one), and I'm still on the hunt for the perfect white tee. So Cuyana's philosophy of "fewer, better things" resonates deeply with me. Not only because I'm on a mission to streamline my closet, but because I relate to the idea that if you're going to have something in your closet, it should be the ultimate version of that item.

Oversized sweaters

And that's what Cuyana's doing: creating the ideal iteration of all of our faves. The perfect tote, the perfect scarf, and now, with their fall collection, the perfect alpaca sweater. They produce their just-released line of oversized capes and tunics using incredibly soft baby alpaca from Peru. Because naturally Peru is were you go to get the perfect alpaca. (Did you know that? I sure didn't…)

These are pieces to travel in, to snuggle deep in, to embrace the approaching cooler weather in. Just looking at them makes me want to jump a plane to Aspen for some early après ski! I'd pair the red sweater with slim black jeans and flats, and that boucle number begs to be teamed up with leggings and shearling boots. As for the bag, well, the only thing it's missing is my monogram!
