Glass Terrariums from ABJ Glassworks

Hanging glass terrariums

You've seen them in photos, right? Those delicate geometric terrariums that stop you in your tracks and take your breath away with their juxtaposition of metallic angles against airy glass? Yeah, I've seen them too. And if you're like me, you've sat there, gape-jawed and wondering, 'Who on earth makes these and where can I get one?" Well finally I've got an answer to both who and where: ABJ Glassworks!

Glass terrariums

ABJ Glassworks is a Philadelphia-based studio founded and run by Ashley Bram-Johnson, who harnesses the inspiration she finds in the changing of light throughout the day and the changing seasons throughout the year—and channels it to create modern, functional sculptures from traditional stained glass techniques. Ashley's work seems almost to the forces of gravity, doesn't it?

Delicate glass decor

From hanging planters and jewelry boxes to curios and this exquisite lamp, pieces from ABJ Glassworks would look right at home in spaces that run the style gamut. Their faceted shapes fit in perfectly with a modern sensibility, while copper or silver finishes foster an industrial vibe. The only thing I'm wondering about now is what I should tuck inside!

  1. These are beautiful! I have also found several old light fixtures in thrift stores that could be made into terrariums!
