Fall Home Essential: Knit Throw Blankets

Cozy fall throws

Last week I wrote a post over at Clementine Daily sharing 10 ways to prep your home for fall. My personal favorite on that list? Well, given my previously confessed textile obsession, it's no surprise that nothing says autumn to me more than a big pile of throws. Today I was more than a little excited to pull out a chunky cashmere blanket I'd stored for the summer. After all, hibernation season is nearly upon us!

What I really want is a gigantic knit blanket like the one in the photo above left—so I can wrap myself up in it like a burrito! The best source I've found online is Milo and Mitzy, a New Zealand-based store that hand knits these babies using needles the size of broomsticks! These oversized throw blankets are super chunky and soft, and I can say without question that they've moved to the top of my Santa list.

In the meantime there are plenty more, though admittedly less gigantic, options. I'm partial to tonal neutrals that lend themselves to superfluous stacking. (Operative word: bounteous!) I also like a fringed trim for texture, subtle stripes for pattern, and vintage indigo dye for bragging rights. But as much as you should like the way your throw looks, you should love the way it feels when you snuggle in deep!
