Winter Warmth: Knits from Good Night, Day

Knit headband

It's been almost ten years since I spent an extended period of time living in Toronto. I've been making a concerted effort to get out and explore the changes that the city has witnessed since I left home for college. It's such a delight to see tons of new independent boutiques and artisans thriving! A recent new-to-me find is Good Night, Day, a label of chunky, cuddly knit clothing and accessories.

Infinity scarf

Good Night, Day is the brainchild of Tara-Lynn Morrison. Every item is knit by hand, and styles are produced in very limited runs. Tara-Lynn uses super-soft blends of cashmere, alpaca, and merino from South America, including fibers produced at a women's collective in Argentina. The resulting pieces combine an air of haute minimalism with heartwarming good vibes.

Oversized knits

If, like me, you missed it when Tara-Lynn ran a special edition infinity scarf on Of a Kind, there are still plenty of cozy finds in the Good Night, Day shop. A braided knit headband functions as an earwarmer or as a turban, or perhaps you're in the market for a comfy cable toque (that's how we say 'beanie' in Canada!) If you're handy with needles and yarn you can also purchase knitting kits and patterns. A made-with-love hat would make a heck of a stocking stuffer, eh?
