Furniture Before and After: National Painting Week with Sherwin-Williams

Indigo table DIY

One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday morning is cruise through the neighborhood for garage sale furniture castoffs. I've happened across some major finds this way: a midcentury barcart for $5, a fab upholstered chair for $8, even an entire dining set for $20! The one thing these scores all have in common, of course, is their need for a little TLC. From a simple cleaning to a complete overhaul, I'm more than happy to give it to them!

DIY table makeover

A fresh coat of color is perhaps my favorite makeover tool of all, so when Sherwin-Williams asked me to transform a small item of furniture for National Painting Week, I jumped at the chance. I had a fun little end table whose shape I adored—its nifty octagonal top and quirky curved legs were unlike anything I'd seen before—but the blah brown finish wasn't doing it any favors. However a quick coat of Sherwin-Williams Cashmere Interior Acrylic Latex Paint in 'Naval' gave my table a new lease on life!

Brightly colored table

I'm loving the deep drama of this blue. The striking shade highlights the unique silhouette of the table for an effect that is part Hollywood Regency, part old-world Americana. And although I'm not one to jump on every trend, I secretly like how my one-hour DIY has enabled me to partake of the current craze for all-things-indigo. So when the next hot color rolls around, I'm just a paint job away from updating this table yet again!
