DIY Color Block Painted Table

DIY color block table

*This post is sponsored by The Home Depot.* I cannot resist a curbside furniture find. Fortunately for me, LA has no shortage of 'em! I've been known to toss a great score into the back of my car even if I see no immediate use for it. More often than not, I end up driving around with it in the trunk for a couple weeks before admitting to myself that I don't have the time to spruce it up or the space to bring it indoors—and then I put it back on the street for some other enterprising soul to swoop up!

But last week while cruising through the wilds of Santa Monica I braked for a cutie-patootie little table that had real potential. All it needed was a new paint job! I knew that it would be an easy fixer-upper because it had clean, straightforward lines, but also that I could add a layer of interest with some color blocking. Because The Home Depot sells sample sizes of every color they offer, I was able to pick up a wide variety of hues without blowing my budget.

I went with a fresh palette that brings to mind the summery spirit my favorite Max Wanger beach photo—which I of course displayed on top! The paint treatment complements the mod shape of the table yet feels a little glam Palm Beach too. The use of dark and light shades from the same family creates dimension while keeping a consistent feel, and a crisp white trim ties everything together. It only took an afternoon—and a little curbside good luck—to give my bedroom a cheerful summer makeover!

  1. Hi Anne – what a lovely little project! I love the color scheme. Where did you find the frame with the beach photo?
