Fall Cleaning Essentials

Common good laundry detergent

Oh my goodness, you guys, I'm back! I handed in the manuscript for my book on Friday (thanks for all the kind words on Instagram) and I am so appreciative of everyone's understanding while I took a little time away from the blog to finish it. It was a truly draining experience, but I can already feel my vim and vigor returning—and I'm so excited for everything the upcoming season has in store.

Lemons and salt for cleaning cutting boards

When I finally lifted my head from my laptop last week, I took a good look around and realized the state of disarray into which my poor house had fallen. So I spent the holiday weekend with my sleeves rolled up and my hands in a pair of rubber gloves. The tub, the fridge, the floors: nothing was safe from my soapy grasp. It felt fantastic to do something so tactile for a change. I even pulled a Monica Geller and cleaned the bottles of my cleaning products!

All-natural fall cleaning

It occurred to me while I was toothbrushing the grout that while spring cleaning has its merits, fall cleaning is really where it's at. After weeks of hot weather, stuffy air conditioning, and busy summer schedules, there's a real satisfaction in hunkering down and getting your house ready for the hibernation ahead. After all, you'll be spending a lot more time there in coming months, so shouldn't it be as spic and span as possible?

  1. That’s true, fall cleaning is very important! It’s also nice once the weather gets a little cooler and you can de-stinkify your place with open windows 🙂 …not that your house smells!

  2. Yes, a fall cleansing was much needed around here and I did the same yesterday. Feels good to start the month off on a fresh start! Congrats again on the book lady, that is *such* a major accomplishment! Hope you’re celebrating… and be sure to let me know when you head up north. Xx
