Coffee Making Essentials for National Coffee Day

How do you get your daily coffee fix? Are you patient and methodical as you pour perfectly heated water over your carefully measured beans? Do you wake up and hit ‘brew’ on the Keurig so you can get that sweet java into your system as quickly as possible? Or can you manage to wait until you pass the drive-through on your way to work? As for me, I’ve gotta have my cup of coffee within 30 minutes of getting out of bed or there’s hell to pay. And I can easily drink several cups a day, though for sanity’s sake I keep it to just one in the morning. But with all the National Coffee Day photos popping up on Instagram, I’m tempted to sneak in a second pot to celebrate!

Truly, though, it seems there are as many ways to make coffee as there are personality types—and the way you brew and drink yours says a lot about you. I’m a Chemex girl through and through, though I recently tried this inexpensive white ceramic drip coffee maker and the coffee turned out beautifully. No coffee ritual is complete without accessories, including pretty wood spoons, a fun glass milk carton creamer, and a stoneware mug you can wrap your hands around as you take that first intoxicating sip. I guess you could say my coffee personality is thorough. Or anal retentive. Depending on how nice you’re feeling (ie. how many cups of coffee you’ve had) that is!
