Hudson Grace at the Brentwood Country Mart

Lately it seems that every week in LA a new boutique opens, stocked with fabulous finds just begging to hop into my car and accompany me home. The most recent addition to the shopping roster is at once fresh and familiar. An offshoot of a store that’s been making waves in San Francisco for a few years, it’s called Hudson Grace, and it’s bee-yoo-ti-ful!

I swung by the just-opened shop last week for a peek at the latest holiday wares and a visit with Hudson Grace founders Monelle and Gary. The two edit the shop with exactly the sharp eye for retail that you’d expect from their previous lives at Williams-Sonoma and Gap Inc. Every detail is carefully yet effortlessly applied, from the apron-front sink that anchors the kitchenwares display to the way the light radiates off the deep slate paint on the walls. The effect is an all-embracing sense of style—and a desire to soak it all in by osmosis!

Monelle and Gary started Hudson Grace with the goal of combining their two design sensibilities into a whole that’s greater than the sum of its parts. Monelle represents her classic inclinations with elegant porcelain and found vintage silver, while Gary’s more contemporary leanings are represented through fashion-forward art books and sleek glassware. Custom hand-tied bouquets round out the mix. There’s without a doubt something for everyone tucked onto these shelves!
