Dining + Design at Mardi Restaurant Los Angeles

Happy 4-day work week! I hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday weekend full of summer fun. I for one am thrilled to report that contrary to my workaholic ways, I actually devoted all three days to leisure activities and didn’t reply to a single email! The 4th of July festivities included an afternoon at the beach, a hike in Malibu, and perhaps the highlight, brunch at the newly opened Mardi Restaurant here in LA. The latest dining offering at the impossibly chic Palihouse West Hollywood, the food is so tasty and the decor so delicious that Mardi very well may become my go-to brunch spot henceforth!

Everything we ordered was top notch, from the strong and piping hot coffee to the perfectly buttery and flaky pistachio scone—which I shared with the group but had to stop myself from devouring singlehandedly. Other menu highlights included a stack of hearty but not-too-dense buckwheat pancakes; the carefully assembled avocado toast with sunflower sprouts and sesame; and the impeccably crafted house smoked sausage on a bed of sauteed pea tendrils and radish.

Speaking of impeccably crafted, the design at Mardi makes even a trip for coffee or a cocktail a worthwhile endeavor. The bar area features bentwood stools and a mosaic floor (aka an #ihavethisthingwithfloors shot just waiting to happen!), while the outdoor patio combines dark green brick with layers of potted foliage and a distinct breezy bistro feel. I cannot wait for a return visit to sample the dinner and drinks menu, and in the meantime I’ll be dreaming of fluffy buckwheat pancakes with a side of major eye candy!
