My Dad the Superhero: Saving the Planet + Gifting the HP Spectre

Dads can be some of the hardest family members to gift for! My dad is especially tricky to please, not because he’s picky but because he’s got pretty simple taste and doesn’t want for much. At the same time, though, as the years have gone by I’ve felt increasingly compelled to gift him something awesome—because the older I get, the more I realize that he’s one of the most generous and humble men I know.

The funny thing about my dad, however, is that even though he’s one of the smartest people I know, he’s a total late adopter when it comes to technology. He’s still not quite sure how to use a smartphone, and he still lugs his ancient, heavy laptop with him when he heads into the field. So when HP asked me to #ReinventGiving this holiday season and gift their Spectre x360 to someone special in my life, I knew without question that I wanted to give it to my dad. Not only is his research critical in this world, but I wouldn’t be the curious and dedicated woman I am today without his example. The least I can do is gift him a tool to streamline his work flow—and lighten his load!

What makes the Spectre x360 perfect for my dad? Let me count the ways! For starters, it’s the sleekest, most streamlined computer out there. The 13.3 inch display is nearly borderless, meaning that every square millimeter of space has been maximized for my dad to see his presentations and research charts up close and personal. It comes ready to go with Windows 10—just right for my dad who’s a diehard PC guy. Oh, and that touch screen? It’s intuitive and so easy to use, even my favorite absent-minded professor can master it!

The best part, though, is how versatile and hardworking the Spectre x360 is. Weighing in at less than three pounds, its great for throwing in my dad’s carry-on luggage as he jets to his next exotic destination. Plus, its stainless steel construction, not to mention a 15 hour battery life, gives it fieldwork durability. Whether he’s teaching or collecting specimens, delivering a keynote or writing a research grant, the Spectre x360 has his back. Just like he’s always had mine (and the rest of the world’s too). It’s so gratifying at last to be able to give something in return to him —especially when it helps him pursue his passion even better!
