A Closer Look at The Authentics Book by Melanie Acevedo + Dara Caponigro

There are coffee table books you look at. There are coffee table books you pour over, read every last word, and dog ear countless pages so you can refer back to them for inspiration in moments of need. And then there are coffee table books you buy multiple copies of because everyone in your life needs to own them, treasure them, and wallow in their beauty and brilliance. The Authentics: A Lush Dive into the Substance of Style falls into that last category. Trust me when I say that you’re going to want to buy this one in bulk and gift it to every chic pal on your holiday shopping list this year.

The Authentics comes to us from renowned photographer Melanie Acevedo (I definitely lusted after every.single.one of her images when I first started blogging) and Dara Caponigro, the founding editor of Domino Magazine. Just as its subtitle suggests, it’s a close look at visionaries in the worlds of art, design, and culture. Some very familiar faces are present; you’ll find portraits of Kelly Wearstler and Jonathan Adler, to name a few. But others are less known to me, which makes the book feel like a fresh, informative offering. And the best part of all, whether the subjects are new to you or already faves, is the intimate interviews with each featured figure; you’ll come away with a greater appreciation for the creative process and the sheer gumption required of working artists in the world today. Oh, and there’s some pretty darn gorgeous photos in here too. Grab a copy for yourself, and don’t be surprised if it makes you wish Amazon had a ‘subscribe and save’ option for books!
