High Point Market Trend Report: Floating Acrylic Furniture

I cannot believe it’s been over a month since I returned home with stars in my eyes from High Point Market! The time since then has flown by, and it seems like only yesterday I was living it up on the  Design Bloggers Tour, hitting the showrooms at the world’s largest interiors trade show and getting a peek at all the upcoming trends and new collections from a global roster of design manufacturers. And of course the best part about gathering all that inspiration has been sharing it back here with you guys!

Last but certainly not least on the list of things I was loving this past market was the abundance of glass and acrylic furniture and accessories. The look is modern and sleek, but buoyant and playful too, since the clear materials give the effect of floating. At Modshop, a four poster lucite bed stole the show, while at Bernhardt a handsome bachelor’s chest combined acrylic panel legs with bleached walnut for a light-as-air accent. Arteriors’ ribbed glass column lamp with a black shade would look stunning in a dramatic space, or swap in a pale linen shade for a beachy vibe. The mix-and-match table options at Century Furniture included acrylic and metal bases that could be combined in a top made from any material of your choice, and Theodore Alexander’s exquisite etagere pairs an acrylic frame with sycamore veneer shelves for a truly one-of-a-kind presence. The beauty of this trend is that a little goes a long way, so you only need one piece to make a major statement in 2018!
