Space + Sanctuary for Homeless Youth: The Covenant House Sleep Out

Without a doubt, one of my favorite projects of 2017 was the meditation room makeover I did for Covenant House, a non-profit shelter and resources center here in LA that provides sanctuary for homeless and trafficked youth ages 18-24. It was so very gratifying to partner with several of my favorite decor brands to create a soothing retreat space that Covenant House residents now use for yoga classes, sessions with their counselors, quiet time, and so much more. Now, I’m excited to spread the word about a way that anyone can support this incredible organization and their services that meet the physical, emotional and educational needs of at-risk young people: The Covenant House Young Professionals Sleepout!

The Young Professionals Sleepout is a unique experience that was born from a desire to encourage awareness and empathy for the immeasurable odds that face homeless youth. On Friday, March 23, participants who are between the ages of 24-39, and who have raised at least $1000 in funds, are invited to spend an evening getting to know some of the young people whose lives are directly impacted by this financial support—and then to spend the rest of the night sleeping on the street in their place. If you’ve never done any individual fundraising before, this is a perfect opportunity to get started, as the Covenant House team is on-hand to provide the tips, materials, and guidance you need to reach the $1000 goal. If you’re a business looking for non-profit sponsorship opportunities, Finally, if you’re not in LA but want to get involved in the Sleep Out, there are several other cities that have them too. Covenant House California has served over 186,000 homeless youth since first opening their doors, and with your help they can serve 186,000 more and beyond!
