Must-Shop Minimalist Decor: The TRNK Los Angeles Pop-Up

As wonderful as it is to ogle design images on Pinterest and decor shopping sites, there’s nothing quite like seeing it all person. Not only is it important for for the benefit of being able to touch a chair’s upholstery, test a pitcher’s weight, and of course test a sofa’s tush comfort, but it’s also an irreplaceable way to get inspired! Experiencing how expert shop merchandisers mix pieces is a great way to get ideas for your own place—even if you’re just looking to freshen things up by rearranging what you already own! That’s why I was so thrilled to learn that TRNK, one of my favorite purveyors of all things modern, minimal, and sophisticated, has launched an LA pop-up store that will run through the end of the spring season!

I’ve had my eye on the TRNK team’s impeccable curation skills for a while now (their Instagram feed is one of my most screen-shotted by far!) and when they started their in-house furniture line my admiration for them rose even higher. So getting to step into their world IRL was like meeting a favorite celebrity—if that celebrity were a sublime leather sofa or velvet chair, that is! I fan-girled hard for the twenty minutes I was there, soaking in the en pointe mix of materials, shapes, and styles. The TRNK vibe is Scandi-meets-globetrotter-meets-industrial, with the end result being that you can’t quite put your finger on why it works and yet it works. so. well. Both online, and now I can say with confidence, in real life too!

P.S. Visit the TRNK pop-up at Platform in Culver City, now through the end of May! Also, the very kind folks at the shop were kind enough to bring to my attention the fact that they’re having a massive online sale with unheard of markdowns, so get on it!! Photos: Anne Sage.
