Project Eat, Sleep, Wear: Mix and Match Accent Tables for the Living Room

Remember when I introduced you to the living and dining room makeover I’m doing for Kim from Eat, Sleep, Wear? Well, we’re shooting it next week and I can barely contain my excitement! With each interiors project I complete, I find myself being ever more intentional about every decision; whereas I used to spend a few hours scouring the options for a particular item and then making my choice, now I spend days! That was definitely the case when it came to picking mix and match end tables for the seating area. I was determined to find tables that were not only the right size, shape, and material for our design vision, but that also played harmoniously together. It was a blast exploring different combinations!

Because I had some very clear size parameters for the accent tables in Kim’s living room—we didn’t have space for anything wider than 16″, and if we wanted more than one table in the mix then the second would need to be less than 12″ wide—I concentrated my hunt on Perigold. Not only does the massive design shopping site carry brands that are usually available only to the trade, it allows you to filter your search using as many parameters as you like! I was able to narrow my search to include only tables that fit a modern aesthetic, and could specify my max height, width, and depth. That way, instead of scrolling through thousands of tables, I could immediately see only the ones that would suit our needs! I also found it helpful to include accent stools as well as end tables in my search, because really what is a stool other than a small table you can sit on? Ha!

The tables shown here are just a handful of the ones that made it to our Pinterest board! Once I’d saved our faves, I spent hours playing with different table combinations on our design board in order to determine which would work best with the existing pieces and with each other. Eventually we settled on two—one for beside the sofa and one for beside the chair—that are as different from each other as night and day, but that perfectly complete the space. I can’t wait to show you guys how it all turned out…so stay tuned!
