Singer Alex Winston has been kicking around for a while now, and every time I hear her I get a little jolt of 'Oh yeah, I really adore this gal!' Her sweet voice is deceptively powerful, her lyrics make you stop and raise your eyebrows, and her melodies will stick in your head like a lollipop on a hot pavement. She's a best-kept musical secret who deserves way more attention than she gets.
I think part of the reason is that some of her more well-known songs (here's Sister Wife and its accompanying video) have an occult edge, so she can scare away a mainstream audience. But do have a whirl with the tune 'Medicine', then tell me if you're not instantly addicted. This is dreamy summer listening at its finest–and the haze is waiting my friends.
