Lately Loving: Soiyl Shoes

I recently stumbled upon a tiny LA-based shoe company. The brand is called Soiyl, and their adorable hand-woven flats check all my boxes. Impeccable construction and comfort? Yup. Understated with an undeniable 'ohmigosh where did you get those' factor? Yup. Social mission to boot? Yup. You better believe I'm preaching the the Soiyl gospel everywhere I go.

To create this modern take on the huarache, Soiyl founder Dolores Melgoza combined the vibrancy of her Venice Beach 'hood with the craftmanship of her Mexican ancestry. My basic black ones carry me from my workout through my work day without missing a beat. The only question: should I get my second pair in nude, or should I walk on the wild side with the bright ones? Decisions, decisions!

Get more Soiyl at the company website, including online shopping and details about their contributions to Rain Catcher.

  1. What cute images! I used to have shoes like that when I was younger, they are adorable. I think you should go with nude for your second pair. Nude shoes are always fresh.

  2. Love the woven shoes, especially the colorful ones. Bits of color on my toes or on my walls always add cheer.

  3. I love these! I have the multi-colored ones and they go with everything. Must have!

  4. My Soiyl shoes did not last at all. They tore and gave me blisters. Now I am having a difficult time returning them. The owner was not helpful at all.

  5. OMG! I finally found something on the web about Soiyl shoes other than the official site. I too am having a difficult time returning my shoes and just like you mentioned the owner is not very professional at all. She takes forever responding to emails. I have been trying to get a refund or exchange for several weeks now. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
