Bring the Indoors Out: Ombre Bolster Pillow

Spring brunch table setting

Have you done any outdoor dining yet this spring? At the first sign of warm weather I fling open the door, mug in hand, for coffee on the balcony. Starting my day with a hit of sunshine makes it that much easier to get into a productive mindset. When my friend Joanna came to visit recently, we took extra advantage of the California weather before sending her back to snowy Philadelphia.

Spring brunch

The serene little courtyard outside my apartment was begging to host a Sunday brunch. To set the scene I brought down the Threshold ombre bolster pillow from my bed (fell in love with it on a recent trip to Target), some simple white dishes, and casual linens. We didn't tear our hair out over the food, just munched on a salad made with leftovers, and on pastries from the local bakery.

I'm a big 'use what you have' proponent when it comes to decorating and entertaining. My house is sometimes in disarray because I've pulled knick knacks off my shelves to elevate a table setting or—in this case—grabbed a throw pillow from my bed to make a patio bench more comfortable. Now stay tuned next week to see this charming pink pillow get its indoors encore!

P.S. Did you catch last week's spring flower arrangement for the how-to on those pretty tulips and kumquats? Also, my go-to vinaigrette recipe is so simple but so delicious. Would you like me to share it in a future post?

  1. Looks like a great way to spend some time in the sunshine. Simple, not fussy = perfection.
