Hair Rescue: Davines

Davines shampoo

Remember summers as a kid when you seemed to spend more time in the pool than out of it? Your fingers would get pruney, you'd permanently have water trapped in your ears, and your hair would become crispy, fried, and tangled from chlorine and constant activity. None of that mattered, though, because you were on vacation and moreover, you were a mermaid in training

Davines conditioner

Fast forward twenty-or-so years to the present day. It's been a while since I spent endless hours in the pool but my daily Bikram yoga habit is having the same effect on my hair. Brushing it has gone from being the work of a moment to an exercise in saintly patience—and once I finally do pick through the knots, my strands are dry as straw and depressingly lacking in their former shine.

Davines sea salt spray

Enter Davines. I'm not one for extreme loyalty when it comes to beauty brands, but this is one case in which I'm a fan for life. Within a week of using the Italian company's Naturaltech shampoos and conditioners my locks have been almost completely restored. The beach spray (appropriately called This Is a Sea Salt Spray) creates a summer vacation look for those times when I do want it, without the accompanying frizz. And not only do they all leave my hair crazy soft and easy to comb, they smell so great that I've caught myself sniffing my ponytail on occasion. Which I guess is the only risk-factor here, if ponytail sniffing is something you'd prefer to avoid…?

P.S. I didn't receive compensation for this post; my gushing opinion is completely my own and was formed even before Davines kindly sent some product my way so I could photograph it. This stuff is seriously that miraculous.
