Timeless Interiors with Shades of Grey

Dark grey interior design inspiration

Even though I've neither read the book nor seen the movie, I hold a certain degree of respect for 50 Shades of Grey. After all, how could I not appreciate a reference to the versatile allure of my favorite color? Though I may stray from time to time (for example lately I'm flirting with a soft, romantic pink), I always return to the strong, subtle presence of grey.

The nicest thing about grey is that it never makes you choose. Traditional or modern, warm or cool, light, dark, or in-between. Grey is an equal opportunity partner in all your decor affairs. It invites layering both with itself and with other hues (that soft pink I mentioned, perhaps?) and it always manages to feel at once welcoming, thoughtful, and utterly chic.

Lately I'm toying with the idea of painting my kitchen cupboards a deep slate—indeed if the thought of wielding a paintbrush didn't send my carpal tunnel into spasms I'd have done it already—but in the meantime I've got my eyes on grey decor accents for my existing space. Matte ceramics in dusty ash, leather coasters reminiscent of the moon, striped Turkish towels as cozy as your favorite sweatshirt: so many ways to sink into the stylish embrace of grey!
