When I’m decorating a space, choosing the lighting is my favorite part. A great fixture can absolutely make a room! Sometimes I’ll select lighting after the bigger furniture elements have been decided, but more often than not I’ll know from the outset exactly what lamps, pendants, and chandeliers I want to use. In other words, I use lighting not as a finishing touch but to set the tone for the whole project! And lately, one of my go-to brands for lighting is Mitzi. Their statement-making silhouettes are fashion-forward without being overly trendy, and the range of shapes and finishes they offer suits every aesthetic. In addition to incorporating their pieces into a few project on my plate, I recently had blast using a few of my Mitzi faves to inspire dining room lighting for every style!
The warm metal and opaque glass of this brass globe pendant bring such an inviting feel to a dining room full of modern yet earthy, organic touches. There’s a California coastal vibe here, with light wood tones calling to mind bleached driftwood and woven chair seats echoing the texture of seagrass. Can’t you envision this setup in bright, sunny bungalow just steps from Venice beach?
I was smitten by the glossy navy surface of Mitzi’s dome pendant light; it begged me to team it up with vintage details in teak, pewter, and black! I’m envisioning this vignette in the breakfast nook of a charming farmhouse-inspired home, where the crisply contrasting elements can complement a backdrop of wainscoting and subway tile.
Last but certainly not least, the eclectic shape of this chrome and marble chandelier demanded a mod Scandinavian scene worthy of its playful spirit! Pale ceramics with a matte surface echo the honed marble finish of the chandelier, while clean, unadorned shapes feel very Nordic indeed. Throw in polka dots for a spirited touch and you’re good to go!
