Staying sane and in shape isn’t easy in the best of circumstances (oh, the constant siren’s call of fries and ice cream!) but when you start your own business it becomes doubly hard. So in the last month I’ve taken a step back and have been making the effort to go to Bikram yoga at least twice per week. And I always make sure to take a moment to enjoy my post-sweat shower!
Even if it’s just for a few extra minutes after class, the peaceful sound and sensation of the running water is the icing on the figurative cake. Plus after 90 minutes of intense activity in a 100-plus degree room, my skin would be a nightmare if I didn’t rinse right away. And naturally, being the product junkie that I am, I’ve used this opportunity to indulge in a few DIY spa treats!
I put the focus on cleansers and lotions that smell as amazing as they make me feel. Most of them are also eco-friendly, an added bonus as I’m standing there watching my yoga studio’s outdoor shower drain into Golden Gate Park. When I’m done, I’m clean, energized, and ready to tackle yet another long day at the computer; and later a whiff of my hair takes me right back to that happy place!

I am so happy to read this post. I am right there with you right now. I have just had what I like to call my business baby (she is now a 3yr old toddler), and now I am ready to take back my balance and health. Being self-employed is a round the clock job, and sometimes the important things fall by the wayside. Next week I am planning a little in home yoga retreat for myself to get back to my practice. I too have been taking a step back and going to the bikram yoga studio 2 to 3 times a week. I feel happy and comfortable with my self knowing that I am in balance.
