Get Dressed: A Shoemint Leopard and Her Spots

Confession: I have moderation issues. About a year ago, I owned not a single pair of leopard shoes. So I decided to add some to my footwear collection. (It seemed like the sensible thing to do.) Well, I may have gone a little overboard, because now I can call not one but five pairs of leopard kicks my own. And the latest are quite possibly my faves: these killer oxford wedges from Shoemint.

When they first arrived on my doorstep–nestled in their box, purring like kittens–I acclimated them slowly. We took baby steps, going out in slim dark jeans or in maxi skirts from under which they would shyly peek. But it wasn’t long before they were ready for the big time: a pair of nude and black flocked velvet polka dot tights was just the thing to let these cats run wild.

Mind you. A few safety precautions remain. Keep all other pieces simple to let the footwear shine; I’ve heard it said that felines have a jealous streak. A colorblock clutch with a simple skirt and top will do just fine. And as when walking a dog, you must take the lead. Strut your stuff like you own the town, and before you know it, you actually will.

A note about Shoemint! There’s a good chance you know the scoop but just in case: it’s a super rad shoe subscription from Rachel Bilson, stylist Nicole Chavez, and shoe guru Steve Madden. I was skeptical at first and wondered: “How good could shoes you get in the mail each month be?” (I’ve been burned by book clubs, CD clubs, you name it!) Full disclosure: it’s awesome. And no pressure, but you can sign up now and get 10% off your first order using the code SAGE until 1/31.

  6. We made big pots of pasta and had spaghetti dinners; we had pre-party parties; we had TV watch parties; we had birthday parties; and we had Christmas parties. The photo is from one such Christmas party. It was 1995, and we certainly dressed the part. My closest friends and I baked cookies and breads and made dips and worked tirelessly on our little holiday party menu; we even had an annual ornament exchange. And aren’t we cute?

  7. Your blog is very beautiful, the style is very cool! See the things that I think is very interested in oh, thank you for sharing! I wish you good luck!
