I first met Alison Sudol of the band A Fine Frenzy in January of 2011 at a cover shoot for Rue. Ali is…otherworldly. From the music she writes and performs to her almost angelic presence, you can't help but be a little in awe of her. At least until she opens her mouth to tells you about her latest hilarious adventures and all of a sudden you're giggling together like school girls.
So when I learned I was going to be working with photographers The Why We Love to shoot Ali for Anthropologie's Push Play Project, I was over the moon. On a sunny, cheerful day in September, we choreographed her around the gorgeous 1920's mansion Carondelet House. Her soft, pretty beauty look was by 1011 Makeup.
The shoot was in support of a special in-store performance that A Fine Frenzy was doing at Anthro's Beverly Hills location just last week. It's exciting to know that the images I was involved with go out to millions of Anthropologie customers in their email inbox, and get used to make posters in the store. I'm so grateful for the opportunity, and for the chance to play work with friends!
P.S. Above are Ali's favorite picks from the Anthro catalog, and there's a great interview with her on the Anthro Facebook page. And in case you missed the last time I teamed up with The Why We Love for a Push Play Project performance, here's Lucy Schwartz and Anthropologie. Happy weekend, all!
Cool shoot. I love A Fine Frenzy!
Oh my goodness. You have such a beautiful aesthetic. The shoot looks like it turned out amazing! I hope I get to meet you at Alt in January! Take care.
