When it comes to Jen Altman, the question that springs to mind is 'What can't she do?' If you're like me, the photographer/author/creative genius has been inspiring you for years—and the fact that she just added retailer to her long list of accomplishments just makes you love and admire her more. Her new online store CISTHENE is now my go-to destination for jewelry, beauty goods and accessories.
CISTHENE is named after the lair of Medusa. Indeed, everything in the shop is selected with a seductive mistress of the dark sensibility that will have you reaching for your nearest copy of Edith Hamilton's Mythology. The rings and necklaces are just right for layering and building drama, or wearing a single special piece for impact. The lotions and potions are the epitome of sultry, earthy, indulgence.
I was honored to share my gift picks from the shop on the CISTHENE blog (which is of course fabulous in and of itself). Project Runway winner Gretchen Jones also did a gift guide, as did Canelle et Vanille's Aran Goyoaga, My Marrakesh's Maryam Montague, and LUV AJ designer Amanda Thomas. It was an honor to be in such company in support of Jen's new venture. The shop is so insanely good, I can't wait to see what's coming up next!
