Alert! Summer is marching steadily along! It's time to squeeze in as much warm weather playtime as possible before we find ourselves staring autumn in the face. Not only have I yet to dip my toes in a pool this season, my heels feel entirely too smooth—a clear indicator that haven't logged nearly enough barefoot hours. The realization has me daydreaming about the squish sand beneath my soles, and now I've got beachy, tropical interiors on the brain.
You know the kind I mean. You see them in pricey spa brochures or magazine features on the best luxury resorts. But the effect is less about dropping major bucks and more in paying careful attention to materials. Think wood grains polished to a sheen and woven baskets and rugs in natural, undyed hues. Then mix in gold and brass for contrast. And although this vibe does have a distinctly summertime sensibility, it's easy to transition into fall by swapping out clear vases for moody obsidian, or replacing a light linen throw with a plush knit one.
My go-to sources for the look? West Elm does a brilliant job with richly textured yet budget-friendly accent furniture; Nate Berkus for Target consistently delivers curios that ooze exotic élan; and World Market can't be beat when it comes to tablewares and linens with global appeal. Thrift stores also overflow with knick knacks in this style. You might have to dig for the good stuff, but just pretend you're scouring the marketplace in Jakarta and you've got an instant tropical vaycay on your hands!

I can’t believe that side table is West Elm! It’s so good and definitely would bring in great texture to a space!
