You've heard it from me before, but it bears repeating. Fashion is a never say never proposition. Case in point? On my recent visit to Minneapolis, I hatched a plan with Michelle at Mille to shoot a post featuring pieces from her shop. On the way there, visions of my usual fare danced through my head—a mumsy shift dress, a flowy tee, maybe some printed pants if I was feeling brave. So when Michelle held up this silky jumpsuit upon my arrival, my inner style skeptic reared her head.
But just as an unfamiliar food in a foreign country demands at least one bite, I was behooved at least to try on the jumpsuit. So I did. And then I never wanted to take it off. It fit like a second skin. It felt like pajamas (my barometer for fashion fulfillment). Plus lo and behold, it was surprisingly flattering if I do say so myself. Add to that the fact that it was handmade locally by Minnesota's Hackwith Design House, and we've got a major sartorial win on our hands.
We accessorized it with simple yet feminine accessories that straddled the line between summer and fall. Dieppo Restrepo booties curved low on my ankles to show a smidge of skin and prevent the look from feeling too covered-up. Dream Collective and Suzannah Wainhouse jewelry added texture, while an embroidered Lizzie Fortunato clutch elevated the outfit to a whole other realm of sophistication. In short, consider me a jumpsuit convert!*
*Which is different from a jumpsuit convict. Let's hope I never wear one of these in bright orange. Thank you to Wing Ta of Canary Grey for shooting these photos! You can buy the jumpsuit online. Also, be sure to catch last week's post showcasing Mille's beautiful interior!
so cute! I’ve always wanted to rock a jumpsuit, but never had the confidence. maybe starting with a neutral is a good start… props to you for going for it, you look great!
Looks ah-mazing on you. I’m a total jumpsuit convert!!!
I’m always wary of jumpsuits, too, but this looks fantastic on you! The fit is loose but perfectly flattering.
