I have a scarf problem. If you want to call drawers that won't close because they overflow with wool wraps, cotton shawls, and silk pareos a problem. Viewed from another angle (admittedly not from the angle that highlights my overflowing dresser) one could argue that a surplus of scarves offers the ultimate wardrobe solution.
Because 'round about this time of year, several forces converge. Our brains start to whisper 'fall', but the weather is still screaming 'summer, yo!' Simultaneously, a new season's styles flood the stores, but we the practical adults resist the spendy back-to-school splurges of our wayward youths. A new scarf satisfies both the desire to layer up and the urge to partake of a new trend, all while keeping our body temperatures and our budgets in check.
In plain English? It's been ages since I bought new clothes, and I'd kill for a wardrobe update. I simply cannot resist the opportunity to mix leopard and polka dots with my tired basics, especially when it means I can still pay my rent. Sure I'm becoming the Imelda Marcos of scarves, but my growing collection simply serves as a reminder of what an excellent problem-solver I am!
