Even though I haven't been a full-time student in years, and summer long ago ceased to have anything to do with vacation, my brain will always organize my mental calendar around the school year. There simply was no better feeling in childhood than the breathless anticipation of September—of starting a new grade with an unblemished notebook and fresh pencils in hand.
I had my favorites back then, of course. A trip to the Hello Kitty store for novelty erasers and sparkly stickers could send me into a tizzy for days. A monogrammed L.L. Bean backpack with plaid trim nearly gave me apoplexy. And a Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper put me in my mother's debt pretty much forever. But I swear my straight-A habits were largely the result of such stylish supplies.
My taste has become significantly more subdued since then. These days I go for tools in neutral hues with subtle personality. Materials like wood, leather, and lucite have replaced my neon binders, and it's been a while since I had my hands on a scented eraster. However, as anyone who knows me can attest, my appreciation for a sharp No. 2 hasn't waned. Pencils 4Ever, y'all!

Brilliant! Love the rustic industrial feel with the modern lucite desk jotter! I always loved a fresh notebook too…oh, the possibilities!
