Earlier this month I was invited by Target to take part in an entertaining series they’ve created with fashion designer Lela Rose. The occasion? A spring brunch at Lela’s home in TriBeCa! The designer is an avid hostess, sometimes seating as many as sixty for meals at her long and welcoming dining table. I happily packed my overnight bag and hopped a flight to the big city!
The morning of the brunch dawned rainy and cool, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jetlagged. But with one step into Lela’s lovely space, the crummy weather and my nagging headache faded into the background. Blossoming branches filled vases throughout the house and the smell of a baking pot pie filled the air! Lela had set the table using a mix of her own personal pieces and Target finds, then hit the greenmarket for flowers and meal ingredients.
You can watch video of the get-together over at A Bullseye View, Target’s behind-the-scenes blog. Lela expertly shares her brunch tips while I look on, frazzled and starstruck. Oh, and to make good things better, my mom surprised me by coming down from Toronto so that she could join the fun! Exquisite surroundings, a gathering of classy ladies, and champagne punch: it doesn’t get better than that!
Disclosure: As a member of the Target Inner Circle I received travel and accomodations to participate in this activity, but all opinions are my own.
