I have a confession. Although I've lived in Los Angeles for nearly two years, I didn't make it to the beach until this past weekend. Shameful, I know. But I'm putting my mistakes behind me, because now that I have spent a day at the shore, it will take a school of ravenous sharks to keep me away. The sun, sand, and surf are all conspiring to get me back to the ocean at least twice more before summer's end.
The beach has an elemental power unmatched by any other place on earth. With the whip of the wind through your hair and the sting of the salt spray on your face, every sense is engaged. The whole of the sea lies before you, its pounding, pulsating rhythms reminding you of its ability both to birth life and to destroy it. On Sunday I spotted several dolphins gliding through the waves and my heart leaped nearly as high as the dolphins themselves. I simply can't wait to go back!

Which did you go to? I’ ve been to Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo but my favorite beach remains Ocean City, Maryland. Sitting there right now!
