You know that episode of Seinfeld in which Elaine squats in a broom closet so she can pretend she lives within the delivery boundaries of her favorite Chinese food restaurant? Every year at Halloween, I can relate completely to her desperation. You see, I love decorating the house and yard to create a scary welcome for trick-or-treaters, but since leaving my parents' home over a decade ago I haven't had a place to do it! Apartment corridors don't exactly lend themselves to fiery jack-o-lanterns after all…
Short of staging a home invasion every October 31, I try to get into the spirit with subtle, sophisticated, yet still spooky touches indoors. Last year I styled my shelves with graphic black and white Halloween decor and I'm still feeling that vibe now. You don't need much to set a spooky scene, so even something as simple as a bowl of mini white pumpkins can do the trick. And if you're yard-less like me, why not buddy up with friends who do have a big house and volunteer to decorate for them?

Living in Norway and not celebrating Halloween, I really don’t understang this wish to have spiderwebs, bats and such about the house. They don’t exactly beautify the place, do they? 😉
Come back at Christmas, though, and I have decorations everywhere in my flat! And I love Thanksgiving’s beautiful autumn theme, as well.
That bat costume is amazing, and it looks rather simple! And those plates are flippin’ fantastic, as is that spiderweb table runner.
