The Beauty of Flowers

Pink flower inspiration

You know the saying 'stop and smell the roses'? I'm more of a 'stop and shove your face into the roses' girl. I cannot pass a flowering bush or tree without burying my nose into the petals and inhaling the heady fragrance. I'm not above climbing onto a neighbor's fence to reach my olfactory target. It's probably earned me a few confused looks over the years but that doesn't hold me back!

Spring flowers

When you think about it, flowers are one of the few reliably joyful things on earth. Not only do they guarantee a smile in any situation, they invoke all our senses to ground us in the beauty of the present moment. Plus they represent so many qualities we humans aspire to in life. Resilience, rebirth, strength in vulnerability: flowers are more than just a pretty face!

Flower beauty

And speaking of pretty faces, the power of flowers to rejuvenate isn't limited to a cheerful bedside bouquet. Our medicine cabinets have long been full of oils and essences that distill the renewing properties of roses and peonies, jasmine and lavender—and that ask us to pause in our busy day for a moment of fragrant self care. My favorite ritual is my 4pm spritz with rosewater toner. It's the next best thing to hopping my neighbor's fence for a stroll through her garden!
