When a project has been three years in the making, its release is worthy of multiple celebrations. And since that’s how long my book Sage Living has been in the works, I’ve been shamelessly throwing launch parties ever since it hit the shelves! Last week I headed to my old stomping grounds in NorCal for an event hosted by Decorist. The online decorating company generously offered to host a little shindig at their San Francisco offices, and I can’t imagine a more stylish spot to raise a toast.
Of course planning a party from afar has its challenges, so I enlisted help from a few favorite SF pros. Rebekah of A & B Creative jumped on board with her event design expertise and came up with a modern yet luxe vision that complemented the eclectic glam vibe of the Decorist offices. Floral artist Sharla Flock killed it with the dramatic romance of her stunning arrangements—an especially awesome full-circle moment as Sharla did the florals for the first photo shoot I ever styled—while calligrapher Aubriana of The Bloomery Co. put pen to paper for some beautiful signage.
It’s not a party without refreshments, and for that I knew exactly who to call: Jen Musty of Batter Bakery. Even though I left San Francisco three years ago I still crave Jen’s cookies! Chandon kindly supplied us with champagne for that toast, and IZZE made sure the teetotalers amongst us had bevvies in hand. Finally, Glassybaby sent over their new hand-blown drinks tumblers to round out the soft sophistication of the evening. It was wonderful to reconnect with old colleagues and friends in person after so long, and it made me wonder why I stayed away so long. I definitely won’t be waiting until book #2 comes out before heading to the Bay Area again!
