My favorite interior design projects aren’t the big, splashy custom jobs that most of us ordinary folk can only dream of. Rather, they’re the ones that showcase how a few fresh, affordable purchases can be combined with existing pieces to bring new life to a tired old space. Today’s design makeover from Claire Rose Staszak of the Chicago firm Centered by Design illustrates how a thoughtful vision and a little patience are really all you need to have a home with personality—even one that starts with as little architectural panache as this modern condo did!
In addition to being an interior designer (her previous work has been featured on Design*Sponge and The Everygirl!), Claire is also a yoga teacher. She brings her passion for intentional living and the power of positive energy to every project she undertakes. Her goal is always to create “personal sanctuary” under the umbrella of great design, and she’s done exactly that with a deft application of clean-lined furniture, simple styling, and a few global touches for color. I’m not usually an accent wall kinda girl, but the black wall here works beautifully to carve out the space and add interest while still keeping the overall mood light and bright. Head to the Centered by Design blog for the full before-and-after on this space, including Claire’s inspiration and process—then start dreaming up your own weekend makeover!
