Sure it’s in the high 90’s here in Los Angeles and much of the rest of the country. But that’s just one more reason to let our imaginations wander towards the cooler climes of fall and all the fashion goodness that it brings! The September issues are starting to hit the stands and I’m eagerly dog-earing the pages to mark the looks I’d like to recreate when the heat subsides. Sweaters are at the top of the list, especially those with bold and architectural shapes like the textured, modern knitwear from the independent San Francisco label Micaela Greg.
Now in its fourth year but still relatively small, Micaela Greg was started by a team of two sisters with a serious fashion pedigree. Not only were their grandparents dressmakers and cobblers, but both hold advanced degrees in fashion design and have won a host of prestigious awards for their previous work. Their diverse influences come to life in Micaela Greg, taking the form of wearable yet subtly avant-garde silhouettes and geometries. Think boxy cropped crewnecks that drape just-so, open mesh tanks that flatter and reveal, and unexpected stripe alignments that beg for a double take. The release of their fall collection is just around the corner, and like the temperatures themselves, it can’t drop a moment too soon!
