This is going to sound absolutely crazy, but this is one of the hardest blog posts I’ve ever written. Back in March, I spent a full day filming a series of entertaining inspiration videos. We shot segments on everything from how I come up with a comprehensive concept for a party, to how I implement each component and bring the party to life. I got the edited videos back a week after the shoot and then…I’ve just been sitting on them ever since. Because nutty as this may seem, it feels so incredibly vulnerable to put myself out there in this new format. Video eliminates the safe, comfortable distance I’ve maintained all these years by blogging with still photos and written words. Sure, these videos are scripted and edited, but at the end of the day it’s me! Speaking directly to the camera! Using my real voice! Ack!
So there you have it: The limiting conversation that’s been spinning around in my head for four months. And here’s the objective reality. The videos are cute! And informative! And a lot of people supported me in making them happen! I frankly just need to get out of my head and put them up. What’s the worst that could happen, after all? Someone will watch them and think I look/sound/am dumb? Well, if I were genuinely worried about looking/sounding/being dumb, I wouldn’t go to the grocery store wearing pajamas with stains down the front, now would I? So without further ado, here’s the first in a series of six videos exploring how to plan a theme party from the seed of an idea all the way through to welcoming guests through the door. I hope you like them!
