I'm sorry to say that on the last few rounds of maternal gift giving, I've bombed quite mightily. Fit has been off, style not quite right, or (eep!) I flaked altogether. My mom has been super gracious about my recent flubs, so the pressure to deliver an awesome mother's day gift this year isn't coming from her. Rather, I've put the onus on myself to find a small but meaningful token of my gratitude for the woman who raised me, who instilled in me everything I'm proud of about myself, and who still reads my blog every single day after seven years. (Hi, Mom!)
Just this week I stumbled on the loveliest roundup of mom-worthy giftables at Sister Golden, an online boutique that is itself run by a mother-daughter team! Founders Brooke and Vicki both have art and design backgrounds that they channel into their charming selection of handmade decor, tabletop items, accessories, and jewelry. Vicki even sells her paintings on the site, making it possible to purchase original art for a song!
The vibe is modern but pretty, subdued but still colorful. Think sunset hues, beach palettes, and the occasional pineapple print. Don't miss the large collection of exclusive shibori pillows, as well as vintage kilim cushions and earthy ceramics. Sister Golden is for the mom (or non-mom!) with an aesthetic as soft-spoken and laid-back as her personality—the type who doesn't expect a gift but will be thrilled to receive one anyway!
