You know me. I'm not one to jump on fashion bandwagons. So when suede jackets starting popping up on the street style scene, I appreciated them from afar but dismissed them as not for me. Suede is so temperamental, after all, and it doesn't seem prudent to invest in a piece that's just a guacamole spill away from total ruination.
However as I learned last weekend, there's a hidden benefit to suede. I'd worn my favorite leather biker jacket to an event at which a large group had gathered to hear a speaker. As everyone sat rapt facing the podium, I shifted in my seat and CREEEAK. The stiff leather encasing my shoulders groaned with the movement. People looked my way. I did my best to keep still but an itch on my scalp demanded my attention. SQUEEAK. Even louder this time, with even more eyeballs in my direction. Not the effect I'd been going for when I'd dressed that morning.
So it is with the wisdom that can come only from experience that I suggest to you Suede: The Quiet Alternative. Perhaps you'd like to breeze through the day with a cutwork bomber in softest ecru, or serenely float about your business in a dove grey biker. Not only will you bolster your wardrobe with a lightweight counterpart to fall's heavier leather, you'll turn heads for all the right reasons.
