Raise your hand if you still haven't adjusted to the cruel and unusual punishment that is Daylight Savings Time. I would raise mine but I'm frankly too exhausted. Forget work, forget responsibilities. All I want to do since we moved the clocks forward is sleep in, drink coffee under the covers, and gradually roll out of bed to partake of that lovely and lazy spring dining tradition: brunch.
I'm not sure what it is about this time of year that makes brunch seem especially delightful. Maybe it's the extra hours of sunlight that inspire a lingering start to the day, or perhaps it's the new crops of berries flooding the market and begging to be served over pancakes, french toast, and waffles. Whatever the reason, I'll take any chance I can get to enjoy my favorite condiment, maple syrup!
Of course brunch is more than just an excuse to eat breakfast foods in the middle of the day; it's a no-holds-barred opportunity to pull out your prettiest table linens, your favorite cutlery, and your best serveware. Brew your beans the slow way, add a splash cream instead of skim milk, and heck, toss in some sugar too. If we're going to lose an hour, we oughtta make the most of the ones we have left!
I didn’t get a chance to comment yesterday but that Sadie is beyond adorable. I think you have a treasure. Can’t wait to see more of her!
