I resisted the most recent iteration of flared pants for a long time. 'They'll pass,' I told myself. 'Remember wearing them in high school? Regretsville!' But my firm resolve slipped away like oil off a duckling's back when I tried on the Ali fit from J Brand. When worn with a sturdy pair of heels and an appropriately proprotioned top, their leg-legthening power is astronomical!
I'm especially fond of the color on these babies. If pressed I'd call it cinnamon, and its 70's charm makes me feel like Mary Tyler Moore and Rhoda are going to come strolling around the corner to invite me out for fondu and macrame lessons. To avoid retro overkill, I add modern accessories with a bit of edge: a mens watch, a zipper bracelet that straight-up nods to punk influence.
As far as that 'appropriately proprotioned top', I go for a cropped silhouette with a bit of swing–this Mason by Michelle Mason trench does just fine thank you very much, and it fosters the intrepid girl reporter fantasies I like to entertain about myself. I'm curious to know, now: Have you jumped on the flared pants bandwagon? If yes, how do you wear 'em? Tell me!

Truth? The only pair of flared pants I own and actually like need the zipper repaired. I’ve planned to take them in “next weekend” for about two years. I need to do that. 🙂
So, I have a mild obsession with zippers. I think I need that bracelet. I love it!
Love the flares! I fondly remember searching out the perfect pain in Kensington during high school!
Flares aren’t very popular in my school, but I love them.. Much comfier than skin tight jeans that all the other girls wear! Thank you mom for making me the different one in my school..
The dark cinnamon color of the flares are just gorgeous, and it somehow makes the myth of black and brown not true!

I adore this color- your legs look a mile long 🙂 I’ve worn flairs even when they weren’t the “thing” because quite frankly they are the most flattering on me. The way the elongate the leg- divine- something skinnies will never do with my short legs. I usually pair them with a more fitted top.
LOVE these, Anne! I am dying for the Free People version in the same color, myself. Methinks they just moved to the top of the wish list! Love the swingy top with em, that’s what I’ll do. That bracelet is SO bomb.
The jacket is amazing on you. Never let this one go. The pants are good. The jacket is essential.
I fondly remember searching out the perfect moved to the top of the wish list!
You look great, Anne! I have a black one that looks very much like this one. Isn’t it great for this time of the year?
Great pictures!
Have a FUN day!

I love flares, looking really goo in these!
Love it.
Oooo…love your flare pants on you! I just hemmed a couple of my flares to ankle length :] I grew tired on my awesome platforms always being covered up AND I can now wear them with flats too.
Enjoy your weekend!!

I, too, have gravitated towards wide leg pants as I feel I have spent the last 2 years in pretty dresses and skirts. Pants just make a woman feel powerful and on top of the world. I also have been pairing it with really modern tees with unusually shapes (Anthropologie’s loungewear). Another way I wear it is with a crop top (if the pants are high-waisted).
