I’ve been a huge fan of One Love Organics since the groundbreaking brand first launched in 2010. Not only does the company’s commitment to powerful natural skin care shine through in everything from their innovative ingredients and highly concentrated formulations to their ECOCERT status, the products look so darn pretty in my medicine cabinet! I recently chatted with One Love Organics founder Suzanne LeRoux to get her tips on keeping my breakout-prone skin looking clear and healthy. In keeping with her ‘less is more’ philosophy, she shared with me an easy beauty routine that’s had me glowing all fall!
Suzanne believes in thorough cleansing as the foundational step in any skincare routine. The trick, she says, is to find a cleanser that contains a gentle yet effective surfactant—that’s the ingredient that disolves pore-clogging dirt and oil. The surfactants in One Love Organics are sourced from ingredients that cleanse deeply without also stripping the skin’s natural moisture barrier to promote a healthy balance. Suzanne recommended her versatile Easy Does It cleanser to normalize my skin’s ups and downs, but then suggested a brilliant way to stop the monthly breakouts that accompany my cycle. Rather than waiting until blemishes appear, I now get the jump on the increased oil production that comes with fluctuating hormone levels by using the exfoliating Chia Whip cleanser in the week prior to when I’d break out. Prevention instead of treatment makes all the difference in the world!
The only other essential step in my pared-down routine is the potent Oh Mega chia oil, which I apply to damp skin after I wash my face. This stuff is like three products in one: a moisturizer that soothes, an antioxidant that prevents signs of aging, and a pro-biotic that keeps bad bacteria at bay. It’s perfect for impatient types like me who get easily overwhelmed by tons of lotions and potions. Everything else in the One Love Organics line, such as the Brand New Day scrub and mask or the Vitamin E eye balm, are just the icing on the cake for additional pampering. Which is exactly how my beauty routine feels now. Turns out that without a million different products to use, I really savor the few I do have as part of a precious moment to myself. It’s a stress-relieving bonus to an already calming routine!
About 3 weeks ago I began using the Skin Savior. I had very high hopes for this product as it came highly recommended by the shop owner that sold it to me. I made sure to ask if it was ok for acne prone skin. I was told that it worked well with all skin tops. Well my skin is breaking out just as my skin had finally cleared up. Another point that sold me was that this would simplify my routine. My former multi step skin care line had run out. The price tag was pretty steep for my skin to look this way. I may just end up giving it my mother and go back to my old routine.
Hi Peggy, Sorry to hear you’re reacting to the product! I’d definitely reach out to the OLO customer service team. They’re SUPER supportive and I’m sure would love to get you set up with something that does work for you — or at the very least refund your purchase! I know they’ll welcome your feedback and be grateful if you drop them a line!
