I'm settling into a comfortable routine while visiting family Toronto for the holiday season. Spending time with my parents has been such a treat! Last night my mom and I caught dinner and a movie, and we've kicked into fullscale production mode for the big Turkey Day fête we're planning. The best part of any dinner at home is raiding my mom's collection of tabletop goodies. She's never met a charger, gravy boat, or soup spoon she didn't love!
We're keeping with our rustic Thanksgiving inspiration by combining earthy materials like slate and wood with glam touches of metallic and porcelain. The contrast between the two sensibilities will make for an atmosphere that's at once polished and thoughtful, yet not too fussy. After all, we want our twenty dinner guests to focus on the food—not on which fork to use!
