Beach Hair Tutorial with Bing Rewards

DIY beach hair tutorial

Last summer I teamed up with hair guru Heidi Marie Garrett and photographic genius Danielle Snelson of The Why We Love Photography to share a quick and pretty up-do hair tutorial. The post has been so wildly popular that we thought we'd do an encore! This time around, since I'm growing out my hair and am between cuts, we decided to create a casual beach hair style that suits almost any length and texture—and that makes the most of unwashed strands!

Beach hair how-to

We used Bing Rewards to help us out with this tutorial. The program is oh-so-simple. Every time you use Bing to search the web you earn points towards gift cards from favorite stores like Target, Starbucks, and in our case Sephora. In other words, an image search for 'beach hair' gets you one step closer to  to shopping for the very supplies you need to make look happen!

Beach hair tutorial how to

To get this easy beach hair look, start with dry, dirty hair or hair that has a bit of grit from dry shampoo. (I showered the previous night and slept on wet hair.) Spray your entire head with a salt spray, then use a 1-inch or larger barrel heat wand to wrap 1 1/2-inch pieces of hair. After each section is unwrapped from the wand, gently pull the end of the curl for a few seconds to relax it a bit. If your hair is like mine and doesn't hold curl very well, be careful not to tug to hard!

Continue curling the rest of your hair. The top secret trick is to alternate curling clockwise and counter clockwise as you move around the head; this prevents the style from looking too 'done'. After you've curled everything, flip your hair upside down and use your fingertips to tousle at the roots. Bonus? This style looks even better the next day with one of spring's fun hats!

I'm required to disclose a sponsored partnership between our site and Bing. I have been compensated in exchange for this post in the form of payment, product or experiences.
