I first met photographer Sarah Hrudka last summer when I traveled to Minneapolis and needed help with a few assignments. Sarah went above and beyond to lend a hand, not only taking gorgeous photos but also playing tour guide, chauffeur, and general partner in crime. We became fast friends, and Sarah continually impresses me with her desire to push herself ever farther in her work and as a person.
Which is why I wasn't a bit surprised to learn of personal project that Sarah has begun. It's called 30 North, so named because each day for 30 days, Sarah is sharing one portrait that represents her neighborhood of North Minneapolis. The once-thriving part of the city has seen a marked decline in recent years, and Sarah has taken it upon herself to capture the hope and spirit that still resides there. The arresting images and the heartlifting stories that accompany them are exactly what we need more of in the world. Follow along for the remaining 30 days here!
