This week, temperatures in LA have taken a nose dive. Instead of sweltering our way through triple-digit days, we’re enjoying balmy highs of 90. No, it’s not enough to make me trade my cutoffs for a cardigan. But combine the more manageable weather with the fact that it’s officially September and suddenly I’m able to have a conversation about fall fashion without my eyeballs melting. Which means that the release of Elizabeth Suzann‘s new collection couldn’t be more perfectly timed!
It’s a commonly accepted truth that the secret to great fall style lies in the layering. And on the layer-ability scale of two-ply tissue to redwood tree, Elizabeth Suzann’s lineup of swingy crop tops, perfectly draped cape dresses, and nubby cocoon coats are like a plump red onion, roasted to perfection until the gooey concentric rings peel away from each other in a haze of sweet, caramelized goodness. Or, to put it more simply, you could pile on every single piece in the collection and still look incredibly chic.
The designer herself describes these pieces as elegant, utilitarian necessities. The former quality is in the details: textured herringbone silks, drop-shoulder kimono sleeves, a range of soft hues that bring to mind an early fall day in the Great Smoky Mountains. As for the latter, the ease of wear and versatility speaks for itself—and the tunic you wear with bare legs now is the very same one you’ll throw on with flares come November. Oh, and those buttery leather booties you see above? Stay tuned later this month, because Elizabeth Suzann is about to release them and make all your footwear fantasies come true!
