Can a particular plant be having a moment? Absolutely! Blooms and foliage can have their fifteen minutes in the sun (pun intended) just like any other visual element. Sometimes it’s a seasonal thing (peonies in June!) and sometimes it’s trend-driven (remember when ranunculus were inexplicably all the rage?). Lately, I’m riding the bandwagon for an especially pretty—and easy!—organic touch that instantly brings life to any space: a single olive or eucalyptus branch! I’ve noticed their sweeping elegance gracing tons of interiors shoots and Instagram posts lately, and I have to say I’m a big fan.
The popularity of this quick styling trick is driven by the recent movement towards pared-down interiors. After all, a touch of greenery goes a long ways towards warming up an otherwise cool, minimalist space. Olive and eucalyptus work especially well in this instance as their leaves boast a silvery-grey hue that’s as understated as the environments they adorn. What’s more, they lend a fresh fragrance to the air—and they still look gorgeous even after they’ve dried out! Low effort for high impact? No wonder I’m seeing them everywhere I turn!
P.S. Was honored to share more styling tips for Instagram and beyond with the Los Angeles Times last week! Images: 1. 2. 3.
